The Gulfport Satellite Library is located on the
third floor of the Dan M. Russell, Jr. U.S. Courthouse, erected 2003. The
library contains the centralized collection of resources developed for use by
the United States Courts judicial officers and staff in the execution of their
duties. Welcomed guests of the library include the Assistant United States
Attorneys and members of the local bar.
The library is staffed by Julie Capuano, who became the first federal court
librarian in Mississippi in 1983. Her qualifications include a Bachelor of
Science degree in English and Library Science and a Master’s degree in English
Literature from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg and
service in the field of information science since 1974. As a career civil
servant, Ms. Capuano is sensitive to the legal information needs of all and
endeavors to find a path, if not an answer, through her telephone reference
service.
