Welcome to the Lafayette Satellite Library information page. The
library is located on the fifth floor of the new federal courthouse in
Lafayette, Louisiana. The library has two walls of windows that allows natural
light to accent the reading/study area. Movable shelving was installed for our
federal and state materials to provide the most efficent use of space. A public
access computer is available for research that includes the Web, Wordperfect,
Lexis-Nexis, and Westlaw (your own id must be entered). The library is open to
the public Monday -Friday 8:00 to 12:00 and 1:00 to 4:30. The library
collections at the Opelousas and Lake Charles Courthouses are also maintained
by the Lafayette librarian.
Sheree Harper has been the librarian since 1994. She has a MLS in
Library Science and a BS in Anthropolgy and Library Science from the University
of Southern Mississippi. Sheree worked 14 years in the public library system in
Mississippi before moving to Louisiana.
Lafayette is a great city for food, festivals, and the people are
