Located on the 5th floor of the United States Court House, the
Shreveport Satellite Library provides services to the Fifth Circuit Court of
Appeals, U.S. District Court and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Shreveport,
Louisiana. In addition to federal regulatory, statutory, and case law, the
library also contains state digests, statutes, and case law for the three state
area comprising the Fifth Circuit. The collection also includes legal
treatises, law reviews, loose-leaf services, and legal newspapers.
Marian Drey, the Shreveport Librarian, joined the staff of the 5th
Circuit in October 1989. Prior to coming to work with the Court, she was a
Librarian for seven years at Tulane Law Library. In addition to her work at the
Shreveport Satellite Library, she also maintains the archival collection of the
5th Circuit Court. Her educational background includes a B.A. and M.A. in
History from U.S.L. and an M.L.S. from L.S.U. She has also completed course
work in Archival and Records Management at U.N.O.
The librarian travels to the U.S. District Court in Monroe and
Alexandria in the Western District of Louisiana, and Marshall and Texarkana in
the Eastern District of Texas, three to four times per year to maintain library
collections in these locations. The library is open to the local bar and
individuals representing themselves in federal court.
